Dem Nhac Thinh Phong: Tinh Tu Mua Thu
Seattle, Washington - August 7, 2001 - SEATTLE - September 1, 2001 - In a continuing effort to promote Vietnamese arts and culture, Tet in Seattle announced today that it will host an evening of popular Vietnamese classics and contemporary music at 7 p.m., Sept. 1 at Town Hall, 1119 8th Ave., Seattle. The program, sponsored by Town Hall, Ethnic Heritage Council, Berschauer Phillips Construction and Western Union is titled, "Dem Nhac Thinh Phong: Tinh Tu Mua Thu - A Special Evening of Vietnamese Popular Love Songs."
The musical program will feature popular Vietnamese love songs from the contemporary during the 1940's and 1950's era, a period before the division of Vietnam into two countries at the 17th parallel in 1954. These songs evoke nostalgia and are considered classics to an entire generation of Vietnamese all over the world.
Performances featured the music by the famous composer Ngo Thuy Mien. Such famous songs such as Paris Co Gi La Khong Em, Ao Lua Ha Dong, Ban Tinh Cuoi, Giang Ngoc, Giot Nuoc Mat Nga, Mua Thu Cho Em, and Niem Khuc Cuoi are only a few of the famous songs written and composed by Ngo Thuy Mien. Ngo Thuy Mien debuted a new piece, Noi Nao Em Co Biet. In this piece, Ngo Thuy Mien has transformed the poem of Truong Dinh into a musical masterpiece. Tet In Seattle is honored to provide the venue for the performance of this piece.
Tu Cong Phung is another beloved songwriter who has composed songs that capture the essence of love. Famous for his series of songs, Bay Gio Thang May, Ta On Em, Mat Le Cho Nguoi, Tuoi Xa Nguoi and Giot Le Ngan Sau, Tu Cong Phung has captured the hearts of many generations through his lyrics and music.
Tet In Seattle is proud to invite the famous trio from California Kim Tuoc, Mai Huong and Quynh Giao who are noted for their voices and immaculate blending of harmonies. In addition, Tet in Seattle has invited Lang Minh and Nga Mi from Washington, D.C. to perform famous duet classics from this era.

Ronald McDonald House of Charities Awards TIS $3,300
Seattle, Washington - July 25, 2001 - Tet In Seattle, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the Vietnamese culture and traditions in the greater Seattle community, today announced that they have been awarded a grant from the Ronald McDonald House of Charities of Western Washington to fund the Children's Program and Kids 'n Tet Exhibit for the 2002 Tet Nguyen Dan Celebration. This grant from RMHC will be used to cover all costs associated with the production of the Children's Program and for all the art supplies that will be used for the Kids 'n Tet Exhibit.
The Western Washington Chapter of the RMHC supports other charitable organizations that provide programs and services for families and children, and awards grants to not-for-profit organizations with programs that enhances the lives of children in the following areas: health care, education and the arts, and civic and social services.
