Kids 'n Tết Kids 'n Tết is one of our most popular events during the Tết Festival. Created by one of our own long time supporters, Thu-Vân Nguyễn, has developed this program from a mere idea into a central station where children of all ages get hands-on experience in arts and crafts relating to the Vietnamese culture and traditions surrounding Tết. By popular demand, Kids 'n Tết has traveled to local elementary schools throughout the year to provide a fun learning environment for kids. Kids 'n Tết allows kids to explore the Vietnamese zodiac through coloring books, button-making sessions and temporary tattoos. They are also guided by volunteers to make their own Hoa Mai from real branches and attachable plastic flowers. Kids 'n Tết provide crayons, pencils, books, and all materials.   To celebrate Tết - the Lunar New Year, Kid 'n Tết will help kids with four festive activities: Making Cay Mai - Kids will learn how to make the symbolic flower of Tết by twining plastic yellow blossoms around real twigs. Making Red Envelopes - This year, kids will learn to make their own red envelopes which adults use to give children lucky money. They will also learn to place correct accent marks on the words: Chiúc Mừng Năm Mới (Happy New Year) on the envelopes and will receive a little token for luck. Making Bookmarks - Kids will also learn how to make bookmarks in the shape of Vietnam by cutting out the shape of the country, punching a hold on top and tying a tassel to the end. Making Buttons of the Zodiac - Kids will learn their zodiac sign and will make buttons of their sign to wear in celebration of the new year.
